character name: Raki
Fandom: Claymore
Timeline: Chapter 121
character's age: Mid to late teens, likely 18 or 19

powers, skills, pets and equipment:
Raki has no powers, but he is extremely strong and surprisingly fast an agile. He is capable enough to kill a regular Yoma, a feat formerly only achievable by Claymores. Able to wield a broadsword that is as big as, if not slightly larger than, the blades used by the Claymores, Raki is also an accomplished swordsman, having learned the skills to use a sword from Isley.

His current equipment is nothing more than a training claymore and the clothes on his back.

personality:
Almost mature beyond his years, Raki is an exceedingly laid back individual. Where-as his tendency as a child was to cling, fret, and generally over react to some situations, his experiences in life have left him in more of a ‘things are what they are and if I can’t do anything about them, that’s that’ attitude. He sees things for what they are, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have hopes for what things could be. He just knows some things will change and others won’t, and he has no problem with that.

That said, Raki is exceedingly optimistic, and perhaps idealistic, if almost to a fault. Even in situations that make the average person and even Claymores scared and uneasy, he simply keeps a smile on his face and hopes for the best. It’s almost a defense mechanism for him, as he’s seen the highs and lows that the people on his continent have to offer, and almost ironically, it’s the non-humans that dwell there that’ve shown him more of the high points. This has made Raki perhaps too forgiving of the Awakened Beings he resided with for some time, as they showed him more kindness than many of the humans he’d encountered since he first began traveling with Clare.

One thing that hasn’t changed, however, is his level of determination. Fiercely determined even as a child, it hasn’t disappeared, only evolved into something that drives him to achieve his goals. Raki knows full well what he’s aiming for, and he will do what he can to get to his ultimate destination, even if it means crisscrossing the continent multiple times.

His loyalty to those he cares about is still as strong as it ever was, and he will defend said people with his all. For all his determination, he is equally as stubborn, being quite set in his decisions and sometimes needing a proverbial wake-up call from time to time. Granted, these wake-up calls can only be delivered by people who are willing to give them, otherwise he’ll carry on with his business in situations that aren’t completely beneficial to him. The best example of this is his traveling with Priscilla, even though he knows full well what she is and what she’s capable of.

The biggest change in his personality as he’s aged, however, is his independence. As a child, he was almost severely dependent on Clare. But with his time learning from Isley, and subsequent traveling with Priscilla, Raki has become confident enough to function perfectly well on his own, capable of handling most anything that has been thrown his way. This gained independence was a decided necessity for him, as his ever growing dependence on Clare in his youth was proving rather hazardous to this health.

why do you feel this character would be appropriate to the setting?
Raki comes from a series in which death is effectively hiding in plain sight in the form of flesh eating monsters, and is very capable of defending himself with his considerable sword skills. He’s quite capable of taking anything that’s thrown at him and not losing his head.

[Voice]
[There’s nothing but the sound of panting for a few moments before the owner of the device starts speaking, and even then, the voice is distant.] The hell is going on here? This isn’t the--!

[The voice stops when Raki notices the device that is mysteriously on, though he has no memory of turning it on.] …This is new. I’ve never seen anything like this before… [A tap or two, then he leaves it alone, walking away to retrieve his dull blade, heading to check to see if anyone’s near the door.]

Third Person Sample:
Whatever had happened, it’d left Raki with a dull headache. He couldn’t imagine one of the Organization’s goons could’ve managed to knock him out. Especially since he’d been taking them all out quite handily. So what exactly had happened? He gripped the training sword as he surveyed the room he’d been deposited in. Who’d put him there was a mystery to him, but there was no doubt that someone had to have put him in the room. The room itself looked familiar, resembling almost every inn he’d ever stayed in. However, at the same time it was completely foreign to him. Everything felt real though, so whatever this was, it was no dream. It was very, very real. But if he was here, wherever here was, that meant that the warrior and the trainees were undefended. Or worse than that, and he didn’t want to think about that. Raki couldn’t help but wonder if they’d all died, for as real as everything felt. The warrior, the trainees, and himself, all in one fell swoop. It would certainly explain why he didn’t remember anything, but even then, that didn’t make any sense… He still had the sword he’d borrowed and the clothes he was wearing.

Raki grumbled in annoyance and massaged his temple. All this thinking was making his head hurt, and it wasn’t getting him anywhere at all. Especially thinking he was dead. He was breathing, his heart was breathing, and he sure as hell wasn’t dead. He wouldn’t let himself die, anyway. He still had a promise to keep to Clare. But he had to find her first, and he couldn’t find her unless he could get the trainees and the warrior out so they could find other warriors of the Organization. Someone had to know where Clare was, after all. And if the warriors didn’t… well, he’d wager a guess that Priscilla knew, wherever she was. Raki took a moment took look at his bandaged arm. It was sore, but the Organization’s people were good at fixing injuries. Though they’d have to be, since they put yoma flesh inside their warriors. He shook the thoughts from his head, lighting tapping the point of his sword against the floor.

His first order of business needed to be to find someone, and hopefully it’d be someone friendly. And to find out where he was, because the Organization’s dwellings were effectively carved out of the mountains. Since this room wasn’t made up of rock, that meant he had to be in some sort of town. Where that town was, was entirely beyond him, since, like he’d observed earlier, for everything familiar, even more was unknown. So some cautious exploration was in order. If anything, he needed to find the trainees and the warrior. He’d promised to protect them, and if there was one thing he had every intention of doing, it was keeping that promise.

Boots might also be a good thing to find.

Anything else?
The Claymore cast is full of terrible, terrible enablers.
